This illustration is about fears and anxieties of everyday: they're a constant pain, a wound you can't heal. Just like if you had a pair of scissors forever stuck into your throat. The spider and the butterfly are also a metaphor of anxiety: prey and predator live in a constant tension. I rarely draw close up/waist up portraits. This drawing was an exception...and I must say I worked better on facial details. I'll try close up portraits again in the future...I'd like to give more expression to the faces of my characters! The spider is a black widow! This is the first time I draw one. I like this spider: its legs are somewhat elegant.
I'm glad you like it! I wanted to crete a contrast between the pain of the wound and her expression - which is not very painful that's more a metaphorical pain
